Nurses’ stir : CPM slams collector’s order

The collector corrected the order to effect that only final year nursing students need to be applied to services, but no one reported for duty

Another collector comes under fire from CPM leader as P Jayarajan, the party’s district secretary, rubbished Kannur collector’s order that asks nursing students to be deputed in the wake of continued agitation by Nurses’s unions, crippling medical services at private hospitals.

Jayarajan said the order will have far reaching consequences and should not be backed.

After criticism from various quarters, the collector changed his initial order to effect that only final year nursing students need to be applied to services.

However, expressing solidarity with working nurses and citing legal aspects, no student reported for duty.

In a fresh move, nursing students from various schools and members from working community will jointly hold a march to the Collectorate, their leaders said.
