Ban Reinstated : Trump Will Not Allow Transgenders to Serve in US Military

The White House spokeswoman said that Trump was concerned about transgenders continuing in service as is was “expensive and disruptive” and “erodes military readiness and military cohesion”.

President Donald Trump has announced that US Government will not permit transgenders to serve the military in any capacity.

The move will now restore the transgender ban lifted 12 months ago, when Obama allowed them to continue in military.

In a series of tweets on the topic, Trump said he had consulted Generals and Military experts on the issue and concluded that military “cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruptions that the transgender in military entail”.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders later described the move as a ‘military decision”.

In a press briefing she said Trump was concerned about transgenders continuing in service as is was “expensive and disruptive” and “erodes military readiness and military cohesion”.
