New Delhi : M Venkaiah Naidu, two-time Union Minister and four-time Rajya Sabha member, took oath as India’s 13th Vice President on Friday.
President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy in the ceremony held in Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
The event was attended by dignitaries comprising PM Narendra Modi, former PM Manmohan Singh and leaders of ruling and opposition parties.
As Vice President, Naidu becomes chairman of Rajya Sabha.
Naidu defeated former West Bengal Governor and Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the opposition candidate to be emerge winner in the vice-presidential poll on August 5.
